| Carla Gugino Biography
Carla Gugino was born on August 29, 1971, in Sarasota, Florida, to an Italian-Irish father and a mother of English descent. Gugino moved with her family to Paradise, California, when she was four years old. This was the first of a series of moves for Gugino during her childhood. Despite moving from school to school around California, Gugino remained a straight-A student and graduated high school as valedictorian. When Gugino was just 15 years old, she was spotted by a recruit for a modeling agency in San Diego. She was quickly signed with the agency and moved to New York to model. It is rare for someone of Gugino's height (just 5' 5 ") to work in the modeling world; though she appeared in many print campaigns, she was considered too short for runway work. Gugino found modeling stressful and eventually moved back to California and began to study acting. Gugino started her career with an appearance on Who's the Boss? in 1988. She has produced a lengthy resume since then, and has starred in many films including Snake Eyes (1998), Judas Kiss (which she also co-produced, 1998), the three Spy Kids films, Son in Law, The One with Jet Li, and in 2005's Sin City. She will next be seen opposite Ben Stiller in the upcoming holiday film Night at the Museum. She has also appeared on many television shows, including Spin City and Threshold. She is best known, however, for playing a United States marshal on Miami's Gold Coast on the television series, Karen Sisco. |
